Hi everyone! I’m Melissa, the girl behind Shabby Love. It’s so great being here with you today! Thank you Courtney for this amazing opportunity!!Today I’ll be sharing a tutorial on how to make a rustic star tree topper! To begin, I had my husband cut sticks we gathered from our yard 5 inches in length. You will need 10 sticks to make a 5 point star.
Take two sticks and determine the size of your point and secure them together with hot glue.
Next, use twine to wrap around the point. This hides the glue and helps add to the rustic look we are going for.
Now, glue the points together and wrap with twine.
Your star should look like this once it is all glued and twined together. Place your star on chicken wire. Trace the shape of your star and cut with wire cutters.
Once you have cut out your star shape from chicken wire. Work your way around and hot glue it in place to the back of your star. Trim any excess wire.
Now you have a beautiful, rustic, nature-inspired tree topper that will be the perfect addition to your Christmas tree this year!!

Hi Courtney! I loved your tree topper star and thanks for the tutorial. I was sent from Melissa's Shabby Love's beautiful blog. Although my tree is not rustic, it's traditional and so I can change the unions to a green ribbon and keep the rest of the star as it is by you….do you think it'll work with the ribbon? Thanks so much for sharing. FABBY
so so pretty! Love the tutorial pictures
